"When Mountains and Rivers Start" unveils the primal energy of New Taipei, a city embraced by mountains, rivers, and seas. Visitors will be immersed in a distinctive sensory journey to the layers of mountains and rivers. Geographical poles and everyday locales are connected and open the ways for 〇 Explorers while visitors are introduced to the diverse culture and lifestyles organically developed in New Taipei City.

People come to New Taipei City at different times, each carrying their own distinctive cultures, lifestyles, culinary delights, and values to this diverse and inclusive community. Through the depiction of an ordinary day in New Taipei, this exhibitions represents the multifaceted essence of life and the unique traits of the thriving multicultural community here.

Over the past 50 years, New Taipei City has transitioned from a traditional manufacturing collective to a hub for high-tech industries, making it one of Taiwan's industrial powerhouses. Despite industrial globalization and the rise of smart manufacturing, there is still a dedicated blue-collar workforce in New Taipei who work tirelessly day and night. This exhibition aims to kindle the spark of imagination, inviting everyone to explore the concept of "innovative manufacturing" where design, research, and manufacturing are closely related. While nicknamed "black hands," New Taipei's blue-collar workforce is our modern-day artisans.

"The Round City" is where we paint a vision for the Design Expo. With people at the core and space as the radius, the realms of life in New Taipei becomes the canvas of our imagination. Just like concentric ripples which expand, people here expand outwards or introspect inwards. "The Round City" allows us to traverse diverse realms. In this riverine city, we meet industry icons that instill imagination into ordinary life, revealing life's aspirations through various exciting remixes.

"Just like a solitary spaceship, Earth's resources are finite, so is its capacity for waste management. Humankind must find its place in Earth's circular ecosystem and master materials reproduction and reuse. " The design of FORMOSAT-O is based on a circular system, propelling us toward a sustainable lifestyle.

"The Bold" exhibition focuses on contemporary New Taipei City, delving into the free and unconventional spirits that have grown from its soil geographically, historically, and culturally. Through various stories, this exhibition showcases various manifestations of boldness. Viewers are encouraged to reflect on their own imagination of "boldness/nonconformity/courage" and the potential for embodying them in daily life.

The "Life in Circle" exhibition zone draws inspirations from the slices of lives and paths of young people in New Taipei. Materials gathered from field researches are organized into six distinctive young perspectives on "Living in New Taipei" and eight expressions of "Realizing Utopia Now." From a preference for serene daily life to daring experiments on the city's outskirts, these locally nurtured "Possibilities and Imaginations" form a vivid picture of different utopian longings for this city.

"Food in Circle" Inspired by the donut-shaped cityscape of New Taipei, "Food in Circle" reimagines the classic roadside banquet with new orbital perspectives. This delectable circle represents various orbits of New Taipei delicacies, including earthy mountain flavors, the freshness of the oceans, and the essence of the terroir.

"A Grand, Immersive Audio-Visual Performance of Live Interactions and Unique Expressions" Our exhibition transforms the New Taipei City Art Museum into a vibrant canvas of melodies, with colorful depiction of the city's rich cultures and features. These hues are woven into a diverse tapestry of totems and phantasmagoria. Interactive installations on the grassy grounds offer unique, one-of-a-kind experiences. As daylight fades, the brilliance of these spectacles shine brighter. Step into the park, and you become a part of the performance.

Gathering distinctive objects and local delicacies from New Taipei City, we collaborate with brands and curate themes to develop merchandise that features fresh design and has potential to create buzz among target audiences. These items will be exhibited in the Design Expo as part of an immersive experience of ideal lifestyles.

Relay is a team sport, a competitive endeavor achieved through collaboration. The runners are lined up on the track, each bearing the history, culture, and craftsmanship that underpin Yingge's glory as the cornerstone of Taiwan's ceramic industry since the 1960s. From utensils to home decor and architectural elements, ceramics are deeply integrated into our lives. The weight of such a heritage has been passed down through generations, each fostering its own innovation and transformation along the passage. To pave the way for the next generation, design thinking is infused for journey onward for the future.

In 2022, the custodians of Yingge's ceramic heritage join forces and proudly present the "Yingge Festival." Through factory tours, exclusive Old Street boutiques, live showcases of Taiwanese craftsmanship, curated selections, a gastronomic feast of Yingge, and hands-on workshops, participants will delve into the technical prowess and operational intricacies of Yingge's ceramics industries.

Confronted with complex challenges like extreme climate, aging populations, declining birth rates, rapid technological advancements, and widening wealth disparities, the future of urban life becomes increasingly difficult to envision. Yet, our city pragmatically responds to its natural conditions, cultures, and industrial structure. Through civic collaboration, we cultivate shared values that empower the city's resilience in the face of challenges ahead.
